The
Irish Airts, or Four Directions, provide a kind of Celtic "Medicine
Wheel" for people of European heritage. Seen as a Circle
of Destiny that lies upon the horizon, the Airts represent the major
areas of human life: home and work; art and creativity; visions and
dreams; struggle and conflict. As we explore this horizon and
incorporate its mysteries and blessings into our lives, we grow strong
and centered. In fact, the Center of the Wheel is the place of
wholeness and truth, where one assumes responsibility for oneself and
his or her community, in other words, responsibility for the entire
Wheel itself. This presentation will draw on Celtic myths and
folk beliefs that lie at the core of Celtic mysticism and present ways
to live with the encompassing spirit of the Airts in daily life.
